What If S2E6 Kahhori Reshaped the World Recap
In the latest episode of What If…?, titled “What If… Kahhori Reshaped the World?” we’re taken on a journey into an alternate reality that’s as intriguing as it is fantastical. Picture this: after the catastrophic events of Ragnarok, where Surtur wreaks havoc on Asgard, the powerful Tesseract ends up hurtling towards Earth. It lands in the Haudenosaunee Confederacy during pre-colonial America, settling at the bottom of a lake and infusing it with mystical energy, transforming it into the Forbidden Lake. This lake gains a reputation after several people from local tribes mysteriously vanish while interacting with it.
Fast forward to the late 15th century, and we’re introduced to Kahhori, a young Mohawk woman, and her brother Wáhta. They find themselves being chased by Spanish conquistadors, led by the merciless Rodrigo Alphonso Gonzolo. These invaders have ravaged their village in search of the elusive Fountain of Youth. As the conquistadors close in, Kahhori and Wáhta seek refuge in a cave. Sadly, Wáhta is captured, and Kahhori is injured, falling into the Forbidden Lake.
But here’s where things get truly extraordinary. The Tesseract reacts to Kahhori’s presence, creating a portal that transports her to another dimension. There, she’s nursed back to health by fellow Mohawk people, but she also discovers that she’s been granted the powers of the Space Stone. With these cosmic abilities, Kahhori embarks on a mission to save her people from the Spanish conquistadors and reshape the course of history.
This episode not only introduces us to Kahhori, a brand new character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it also immerses us in the rich cultural tapestry of the Mohawk Nation. The creators worked closely with members of the Mohawk Nation and the Smithsonian Institution to ensure authenticity throughout the episode.
